Mavic riders on form in Tour tune-up

Philippe Gilbert (Omega Pharma-Lotto) preserved a slim lead going in to the final stage of the Ster ZLM Toer stage race in the Netherlands to claim the overall win. Just two weeks before the Tour de France, Gilbert and other Mavic athletes showed fine form in this pre-Tour test, a five-stage affair through the sharp hills of Limburg and Wallonia.
Patrick Gretsch (HTC-Highroad) won the opening prologue and retained the overall lead for the first three stages.
Gilbert took control of the race on stage four, powering to victory after escaping with a 7-man breakaway. He moved into the overall lead by just one second, yet managed to retain this small margin on the final day to win the overall classification.
Tyler Farrar (Garmin-Cervélo) won stage two and the final points classification. His Garmin-Cervélo team won the team classification, showing great strength just a few weeks before the Tour de France.
