Liquigas-Cannondale starts the 2012 season with victories

Riders from the Liquigas-Cannondale team have signaled with early success that this season will be a strong one. In some of the earliest events on the schedule, they’re proving that they’re ready for a great showing around the world.
In the Tour of Oman, Peter Sagan and Vincenzo Nibali both won stages riding Cosmic Carbone Ultimate wheels. Sagan won with a powerful, slightly uphill sprint to finish stage 2. Then on stage 5, Vincenzo Nibali surged at the base of the final climb to take his first victory in 17 months. Nibali held off Peter Velits for the stage win, but he came up just a few seconds short of the overall win. Clearly, these riders make a perfect stage race tandem, as Sagan is a great sprinter and Nibali is a powerful climber.
On the same weekend, the Trofeo Laigueglia offered a chance for Moreno Moser, who also capitalized with a win on Cosmic Carbone Ultimate wheels.
